This blog is an excerpt from my new e-book “The 7 Things That Made Me Genuinely & Irreversibly Happy: And How They Can Do The Same For You”. As we learned from the sections on Stoic Philosophy and Metaphysical Affirmations, our thoughts, beliefs, opinions and perceptions have a profound and powerful effect on our emotional state and our physical health. The basic premise of abundance consciousness theory is that not only do our thoughts, beliefs, opinions and perceptions affect us, but they also affect the world at large. The people we meet and the things that happen to us are determined, to some degree by the vibe we put out and the consciousness that pervades our thinking. We refer to this phenomenon as the laws of attraction. This is not as radical or mystical an idea as you might think. We are seeing the laws of attraction in action every day! People of similar belief systems are meeting and engaging all the time. Fans of the same sports team, those with similar political or religious beliefs, they meet and get on. There is a compatibility there, an attraction based on shared interests and common thought processes and belief systems. These people are putting out signals in the form of their vibe, their appearance, their actions and their words, and they are getting a reciprocal response to match their output. You are already attracting and engaging with the people who are responding unconsciously to the vibe you are putting out. These phenomena are naturally and automatically occurring all the time, but what if there was a way to change the kinds of people who are attracted to you and the kinds of opportunities that are presented to you simply by changing your “vibe”? Just like how we improved our emotional landscape by shifting our perception to one of truth and positivity using Stoic techniques, we can change our political, circumstantial and interpersonal landscape by shifting our consciousness from one of lack to one of abundance.
The benefits of fostering an abundance consciousness are twofold. Firstly by simply embodying abundance as your default mind-set and vibe, your personal experience of living is a kinder, warmer and less stressful arena to inhabit. When you truly know that there is more than enough of everything to go around, that you will always be provided with enough love, money, time, energy, friends, opportunities and other resources, you just feel better about yourself and about your life! However the benefits do not stop there. Because of the power of the laws of attraction, when you embody and emit the abundance consciousness, the people and the world around you pick up on that and they actually move to reinforce that feeling of abundance by providing further abundance! As I mentioned in the introduction to Part 7, an excess of wealth does not create happiness, only happiness can create an excess of wealth. It’s a simple observable fact. Pessimistic, cynical, jaded people attract each other. They wallow together in their misery, reinforcing each other’s need for self-pity and cooperating to bat away any signs of positivism that would conflict with their dark world view. Similarly with healthy, happy, wealthy and positive people. They attract each other and they work together to reinforce and maintain their state of abundance and joy. Any people who come with a negative or dark vibe, or a consciousness of lack, are quickly moved away from. The same goes for supporters of a football team, they will get together to regale each other with tales of great victories and to praise the heroes of the team past and present. Constantly supporting and reinforcing a mutual belief in the value of their team over all others. They do not want to hear, and will take offense at the jeers of a passing fan of their arch rivals. And on and on it goes for followers of a religion, political party or other ideology. My point is that the power of attraction is in force all around us all the time. It’s natural and normal. Most people’s experience with the laws of attraction are passive and automatic, however it is possible to exploit the laws of attraction for your benefit. If you are attracting what you consider to be the “wrong” people and circumstances into your life, don’t worry, you have the power to change that. Let’s take a look at how you can do this.
1. Identify the Lack: What is it that you feel you are lacking? What is it that you want to change, to improve, to make abundant? Do you want more money? More intimacy? More friends? More career opportunities? Clearly identify exactly what it is that you want to make abundant in your life.
2. Imagine if You Had It: Take a moment to spend 5 minutes or so simply sitting or lying still with your eyes closed imagining just how it would feel if you already had the abundance you seek. Try and really embody the feeling, the vibe, the confidence, the sense of assuredness. How does it make you feel? Does it make you smile? Does your belly feel full and warm and excited? If its money you want, imagine having 10 or 20 times your current income. If it’s intimacy that you seek imagine that you have a great partner, or more than one! Take note of how it makes you feel to imagine that your desires have already come to pass, and that they are simply a reality of your life. Remember this feeling.
3. Focus on The Feeling: Throughout your day, at regular intervals, bring that feeling of abundance into your body and into your consciousness. The idea is to constantly reinforce the abundance vibe so that it becomes the dominant and prevailing vibe that you emit. Even if you don’t have everything you want, you can at least enjoy the feeling of having it. And as we know from our investigations into the laws of attraction, an abundance vibe naturally attracts further abundance. It’s just the way it is, like attracts like. Abundance finds and reinforces abundance.
Just like how the amygdala cannot tell the difference between a real threat and an imagined or perceived one, so too can we feel the benefits of having everything we want just by imagining. This is a handy exercise and one that’s easy to do. Be sure to regularly revisit the second and third steps in this process. The one’s where you take time to focus on and embody the abundance vibe, this will keep the vibe fresh and potent for when you revisit it during your day. I wish you luck with this technique! Let me know if you have success with these 3 steps or if you’ve had success in the past using a similar technique!
Thanks for reading

That’s incredibly true, incredible advice! The Law of Attractions is an observable and universal natural law in place, even when we’re not conscious of it. Love this post; so insightful!
I think that’s has definitely been my experience back in the Summer of 2009. A few years prior, I had a deep desire to visit China, visit the orphanages, visit the Great Wall, and enjoy the culture and natural medicine of the amazing Chinese culture! First envisioning it, talking to friends and family about it, and finally, just writing it out as a goal for my educational career. That next Summer, the opportunity presented itself as a two-week experiential learning in Traditional Chinese Medicine program, where I got to visit the orphanages, TCM hospitals and clinics, the Great Wall – all while meet with wonderful like-minded students and friends — a true power and testimony to envisioning, feeling and focusing on the future aspirations. Long live good vibrations and virtues! Thanks so much for posting Rohan, keep ‘em coming!
Wow what a cool story! Yep it’s so true that what you focus on is reinforced by the people and environment around you. And that if you want to change what’s happening around you, you have to start by changing your focus and perception. The best thing about this is that our focus and perception are 100% within out control, it really is up to us what kind of people and opportunities come our way
Late in 2012 I decided I’d like to travel and play music in the South of France next year, and very similar things are happening already to me. People and opportunities are all pointing me towards my goal. Very interesting!
Thanks for the comment Brendaline!
Rohan.
You said it right, Rohan! It’s definitely about the right mindset. It helps to be around support and encouragement! Speaking of setting the right atmosphere, you’re definitely on track for that!
I just had a chance to visit your Tumblr and Pinterest page with the photo of France! What a stunning visual reminder of what lies ahead for you! So happy you’ve have added this one to the travel destinations board! Bon voyage!
Hehe, yup. I love Dublin but I need a change, it’ll be fun to live, travel and play music in Europe again! The last time was in Germany 5 years ago. Those images are a great reminder of what’s waiting for you hehe
Rohan.
Change is good! Travel’s even better! That sounds great. Do keep me posted on your globe-trotting adventures in Europe! Yeah, I’m definitely wanting to travel there some time, but for sure, China again–for both work and play, haha.
BTW, I just replied to your book tour post. Any of the three mediums would be fine! The first 7 questions are right on my desk here. Email address’s at Twitter!
I love this post too! This is something I’m definitely planning on focusing very consciously on this year, and was even thinking of making it my Word of the Year. As I mentioned recently on my own blog, I’ve been doing some little experiments with the law of attraction just to start off with, and they seem to be working beyond even what I expected.
So this year I plan to step it up, and just see where I can get with it. Seems to work best when I consider it to be a little game more than anything, because then I stay nice and relaxed about it, and anything good that results is just a bonus.
Thanks for the great action steps here, and I hope you have a warm and abundant year yourself!
Thanks for the comment Jennifer
I know, it seems like you are doing well with your experiences with attraction and manifestation which is great! Yeah good point, if you start stressing about your abundance vibe it totally defeats the purpose lol, gotta keep it fun and fresh
You too, hope you have a wonderful year ahead!
Rohan.
Looks like this would create some good vibes, both inside and out.
Thanks for the comment
Yup, it sure does!
Hope you and your blog have a great 2013!

What a wonderful inspiring post, Rohan!
Thanks a lot for your great tips and sharing!
All the luck to you!
Thank you Sofia! Yes, we have the choice to decide what kind of opinions and beliefs we will form regarding the things that happen to us in our life, so why not choose to be grateful for what we have rather than lament what we do not?
The bonus is that attitudes of abundance attract the people and opportunities that are in line with abundance as well
Rohan.
100% ! I started to really practice the power of Now lately and be thankful for just the smallest daily things. It really opened a flow of major wonderful things to come!
